Sermon Series: The I Am Factor Sermon1 John 11:25-26 6:35 "I am the resurrection and the life" Context: There was saddness in Bethany in the house of Mary and Martha. The question was being raised "Where's Jesus?" Their brother Lazarus was sick and Jesus was not present. Mary and Martha believed that if Jesus was present then their brother would be healed. But Lazarus died. Mary and Martha wanted to know where Jesus was when they needed him? When Mary comes to Jesus she gets at his feet but when Martha comes there is a theological discusssion. Jesus told Martha that he was the resurrection and the life and that all she had to do was believe. Martha had a past tense understanding of what Jesus can do. She wanted to know what was going to happen in the present. Jesus said: "I am the resurrection and the life." Jesus knows how to work in our present tense and is there all the time. If we really want to see the power of God manifested there are some stones that we have to roll away. There are some stones in our lives that are blocking us. We must learn how to roll away the stones to see the glory of God. Jesus called on God so that he would get the glory and he called Lazarus by name to come forth. The Lord wants us to live free from sin he doesn't want us to be wrapped up in our sin. "I pray that you might have life and have it more abundantly." Because He is the resurrection we will never be separated from life we will always have eternal life.
